Te mapa
Tlokweng lies right next to Gaborone, on the eastern side of the Notwane River. It is officially a village, but its size and position make it part of the capital's urban area. On a map the river forms a clear boundary, and roads and bridges link the two sides.
The village is the seat of the Batlokwa, and its traditional centre remains an important part of its identity. The road east leads to the Tlokweng border post, one of the main crossings between Botswana and South Africa, and traffic to and from the border passes through the village.
A Tlokweng map poster shows a settlement growing in several directions at once. Older streets gather around the traditional centre, newer plots spread out in a looser grid, and the main road to the border cuts through them. The river, with the city beyond it, gives the composition a firm western edge.
The river separates Tlokweng from Gaborone and forms a natural boundary. Bridges and roads cross it, connecting the village directly to the capital.
The main road runs east through the village to the Tlokweng border post with South Africa. It is the longest straight line on the map.
Newer residential areas spread outward in a looser grid of large plots. They show how quickly the village has grown alongside the capital.
