Te mapa
Tres Cantos is a planned town about twenty kilometres north of Madrid, built from the 1970s onwards and made a separate municipality in 1991. Unlike the older towns of the region, it has no medieval core. From above it reads as a deliberate design: residential sectors separated by broad avenues, green strips and generous parks.
The town sits beside the M-607 motorway toward Colmenar Viejo. A large central park runs through the middle of the urban area, and many neighbourhoods are organised around inner gardens and pedestrian paths rather than through traffic. Around the edges, open Mediterranean countryside and protected land keep the town clearly defined.
Its planned character has also made it a base for technology and research companies. A Tres Cantos map poster shows a rare thing in Spain: a town built entirely to a modern plan, where the pattern of sectors, parks and road loops is as clear on paper as it is on the ground.
A long green space runs through the centre, separating neighbourhoods and appearing on the map as a large open band within the urban fabric.
Residential areas are grouped into distinct sectors with their own internal streets, giving the map a modular, carefully organised look.
The M-607 runs alongside the town, forming a firm straight edge that contrasts with the curving streets inside.
