Te mapa
Tyler is the seat of Smith County in East Texas, a region of pine forest and rolling hills. The city grew from a central square around the county courthouse, and the older streets near downtown follow a regular grid. Beyond them, curving residential streets wind through wooded lots. Loop 323, a ring road around the whole city, gives the map a clear, rounded outline.
Tyler calls itself the Rose Capital of America. The surrounding area was once a leading centre of commercial rose growing. The city hosts the Texas Rose Festival each October and maintains the Tyler Rose Garden, one of the largest municipal rose gardens in the country. The garden and the nearby fairgrounds appear as open spaces west of downtown.
A Tyler map poster shows a Southern city in its full structure: the straight blocks around the square, the gentle curves of the older neighbourhoods, and the loop enclosing it all, with newer development spilling south along the main highways. It makes a fitting piece for anyone who has called the city home.
Downtown is centred on the square around the Smith County courthouse, with a small, regular grid of streets extending in each direction.
This ring road circles the central city, forming an almost complete loop that frames the older neighbourhoods and is easy to trace on the poster.
West of downtown, the municipal rose garden and neighbouring park grounds form a distinct open area, home to thousands of rose bushes.
