Te mapa
Várzea Alegre lies in the interior of Ceará, in the semi-arid backlands toward the south of the state. The name translates roughly as cheerful floodplain, a reference to the lower ground along the watercourses that turns green when the rains arrive. From above, the town is a compact grid of blocks with a clear centre, surrounded by open country, scattered farms and the pale lines of seasonal riverbeds.
Water shapes everything in the sertão, and the map reflects it. Small reservoirs, dams and the beds of intermittent streams appear around the town, holding water for the dry months. A Várzea Alegre map poster shows how the town grew along the lower ground, with roads fanning out across the countryside toward neighbouring municipalities.
The central streets are straight and closely packed, typical of northeastern interior towns built around a church square and a market. Further out the blocks become larger and more irregular, and finally give way to country roads. It is an understated map, but the contrast between the dense centre and the wide, quiet land around it gives the poster a clear, balanced shape.
Closely packed rectangular blocks around the central square form the densest part of the map, a small, orderly core.
Intermittent riverbeds and the lower ground of the várzea curve past the town, marking where water gathers in the rainy season.
Country roads radiate outward across open land, linking farms and neighbouring towns and giving the edges of the poster a gentle rhythm.
