Te mapa
Viby, often written Viby J, is a district on the south-western side of Aarhus in Central Jutland. It grew from an old village into a large residential and commercial area, and its map combines several layers: a historic core with irregular streets, post-war housing estates with looping roads, and industrial zones along major routes. Aarhus's ring road passes through, a strong curve on the map.
Green corridors and small valleys run between the built-up areas, giving the district a varied texture. To the east, Viby merges with the denser streets of central Aarhus, while to the south and west it gives way to more open land. Rail lines and main roads cross the area, linking it to the rest of the city and to southern Jutland.
A Viby map poster shows the layered growth of a Danish suburb in clear line work. The curving ring road, the rounded estate streets and the older village lanes sit side by side, framed by green space. It is a detailed, recognisable print for anyone who has lived, studied or worked on this side of Aarhus.
Aarhus's ring road sweeps through Viby, drawing a strong curved line that divides the district and links it to the rest of the city.
The historic centre of Viby keeps a more irregular street pattern, distinct from the planned estates that surround it.
Parks and small valleys run between residential areas, adding open space and soft outlines to the otherwise dense suburban map.
