Te mapa
Vienne lies on the left bank of the Rhône, about 30 kilometres south of Lyon, where the valley narrows between wooded hills. From above, the old town fills a tight strip between water and slope, and its irregular streets climb toward the heights. The small Gère river cuts in from the east and joins the Rhône in the centre.
Few towns of this size keep so much of their Roman past on the map. The Temple of Augustus and Livia still stands in the centre. The large Roman theatre is cut into the Mont Pipet hillside, and the Pyramid that once marked the circus rises in the south. Each summer, the Jazz à Vienne festival fills that theatre with concerts.
A Vienne map poster captures a city squeezed by geography. It shows the broad band of the Rhône, the bridges to Sainte-Colombe and Saint-Romain-en-Gal on the far bank, and dense streets pushed up against the hills. The contrast between the flat river and the curving hillside roads gives the print a strong, layered structure.
The wide Rhône defines the western edge of the town. On the poster it forms a bold open band, crossed by bridges to the opposite bank.
Built into the Mont Pipet slope above the old town, the ancient theatre appears as a distinct semicircle among the streets. Today it hosts the jazz festival.
The small Gère river enters from the east through a narrow valley once lined with mills and workshops. It draws a thin curving line into the centre.

Vienne suits anyone who loves the Rhône valley, Roman sites or summer evenings of jazz in the open air. The map reads almost like an archaeological plan, with ancient landmarks tucked inside a living town, and it rewards a closer look.
