Viladecans lies in the Baix Llobregat, south-west of Barcelona, where the hills of the Garraf massif meet the flat delta of the Llobregat river. The town centre sits at the foot of the slopes, and from there the map extends south across a wide plain of fields, roads and newer developments toward the Mediterranean.
The delta is the most distinctive part of the map. Farm plots divided by straight channels and paths cover the land, and near the coast lie protected wetlands and lagoons, including the Remolar-Filipines area, set among pine woods and dunes. The beach runs along the southern edge, a clean line against the sea.
