Te mapa
West Kelowna lies on the western shore of Okanagan Lake in British Columbia's interior, opposite the city of Kelowna. On a map the lake is the main shape: a long, narrow body of water running north to south. West Kelowna's neighbourhoods climb from the shoreline up the hillsides in curving streets that follow the contours of the slope.
The William R. Bennett Bridge crosses the lake to Kelowna, and Highway 97 runs through the community. Mount Boucherie, an old volcanic hill, rises near the shore. The benches around it are planted with vineyards, and the area is part of the Okanagan wine region. A West Kelowna map poster shows how closely the city is shaped by lake, hill and slope.
In monochrome, those winding residential streets form layered patterns, almost like terraces. They sit between a plain area of lake water and the undeveloped hills to the west. The contrast gives the print a clear structure.
The long, narrow lake runs along the city's eastern edge. It gives the map a large open area and a clear shoreline where the lakefront neighbourhoods begin.
The William R. Bennett Bridge crosses the lake to the east. It is a single straight line connecting the two cities over the water.
Residential roads curve along the hillsides in stacked arcs. They follow the slopes around Mount Boucherie and give the map a layered, flowing texture.
