Xihe is an urban area in northern Hubei province, in the hilly country between the Tongbai and Dabie mountain systems to the north and the plains of central Hubei to the south. From above, the settlement forms a compact centre of streets and residential blocks, surrounded by fields, ponds and wooded rises. The ground here is uneven, and roads bend around it.
The street pattern mixes older, closely packed blocks with newer straight avenues and larger building footprints, which is typical of towns that have grown quickly in recent decades. Streams and small reservoirs scattered across the countryside add soft shapes to the map. Main roads leave town in several directions, tying it to neighbouring towns in the region.
