Hudson River edge
The whole western side of the city is riverfront. The shoreline is almost straight, with rail tracks running along it, so the map has one clean, unbroken edge.

Te mapa
Yonkers sits directly north of the Bronx, and from above its western edge is simply the Hudson River, a straight, wide band with the Palisades cliffs on the far shore. Inland the ground rises fast, so the street pattern is less a grid than a set of patches bent around ridges and hollows.
The Saw Mill River runs through the city toward the Hudson, and in the downtown Getty Square area part of it has been brought back to the surface after decades in a culvert. Several parkways follow the valleys north to south, and the New York State Thruway cuts through the middle, which gives the map strong vertical lines.
Yonkers is the third most populous city in New York State. Elisha Otis started the elevator company that carries his name here in the 1850s. A Yonkers map poster shows a city shaped by its terrain: tight blocks near the river, looser curving streets on the hills, and green edges where parks border the Bronx.
The whole western side of the city is riverfront. The shoreline is almost straight, with rail tracks running along it, so the map has one clean, unbroken edge.
Downtown, a stretch of the Saw Mill River that was once buried under the streets has been opened up again, and it now shows as a narrow ribbon of water between the blocks.
The Saw Mill River Parkway, the Bronx River Parkway and the Thruway all run north to south through valleys, and their long curves sit on top of the finer local streets.

Koteā ko Yonkers
People who grew up in Yonkers usually remember it by its hills and its view of the river, not by the neighbourhood names. This map keeps both in view, and it looks good in an apartment in the city itself or in one of the places people have moved on to since.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a street name or a year, and the coordinates line. Then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
