Te mapa
Zadar's old town fills a slim peninsula on the Dalmatian coast, and from above it reads as a compact lozenge of streets bounded on almost every side by water. The lanes inside follow a street plan inherited from the Roman town, so the core looks unusually orderly for a Mediterranean port. On its inland side, a small sheltered harbour separates the peninsula from the mainland.
Beyond the peninsula, the city spreads along the shore and back from it in looser blocks, with residential districts, marinas and main roads reaching towards the airport and the countryside. Across the Zadar Channel lies the long outline of Ugljan and the islands behind it. On a Zadar map poster that parallel coastline gives the composition a strong horizontal rhythm, with land, water and island stacked in bands.
Zadar is known for the remains of its Roman forum, the round ninth-century church of St. Donatus beside it, and the Venetian fortifications that still ring parts of the peninsula. On the western tip, the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun, both designed by architect Nikola Bašić, turn the waterfront into a place where people gather at dusk. Even at map scale, that tip is the obvious focal point.
A tight, almost rectangular street network on a narrow spit of land, inherited from the Roman plan and clearly set apart from the looser modern city behind it.
A small enclosed harbour on the landward side and the line of Venetian fortifications give the old town a crisp edge that holds up well in black and white.
A calm strip of sea runs between the city and the island of Ugljan, so the mainland coast and the island shoreline trace two long, parallel lines across the map.

Koteā ko Zadar
For people who have walked the waterfront at sunset or sailed out among the islands, Zadar makes a clear, recognisable map: a peninsula, a harbour and a channel. Few coastal towns show their layout so plainly, and the result works well framed in a hallway or above a desk.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a wedding date or the year of a sailing trip, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital HD files cost $9, and printed posters on matte paper are also available.
