Te mapa
Zégoua lies in the Sikasso Region at the southern tip of Mali, right at the border with Côte d'Ivoire. It is the main road crossing between the two countries on this route, and the town's form follows from that. The main road is its spine, and the settlement spreads out on either side of it.
From above, Zégoua looks like many Sahelian and Sudanian border towns. A through road carries lorries and buses, a looser network of sandy lanes branches off it, and compounds become more scattered towards the edges. Around it the savanna is marked by field plots and footpaths, not by paved streets.
A Zégoua map poster captures a place defined by movement: the road that arrives from Sikasso and continues south across the frontier. It is a modest map, and its simplicity is the point. One strong line runs through a fine mesh of lanes, set against the open land of southern Mali.
Zégoua is the Malian side of a principal road crossing into Côte d'Ivoire. The international boundary runs just south of the town and gives the map a clear reference line.
The main highway runs straight through town, and most of the settlement is arranged along it. It is the heaviest line on the poster and anchors the whole composition.
Past the built-up area, tracks and field edges fan out across wooded savanna. The map fades gradually from settlement to countryside instead of stopping at a hard edge.
