Fields of the plain
Farmland surrounds the town in narrow rectangular plots divided by channels and tracks. On paper it becomes a fine, repeating texture that frames the built-up area.

关于地图
Artashat Map Poster & Print
Artashat is the administrative centre of Armenia's Ararat province, south of Yerevan on the broad, flat Ararat plain. From above, the town is a fairly compact network of streets surrounded by a patchwork of fields, orchards and vineyards. Straight irrigation channels and farm roads run between the plots. There is almost no relief to bend the pattern, so the lines stay long and direct.
The name comes from ancient Artaxata, the capital founded by King Artaxias I in the second century BC. Its remains lie a short distance from the present town, near the Khor Virap monastery and the Araks river, which forms the border with Turkey. The modern town was called Kamarlu until it took the historic name in the mid-twentieth century.
An Artashat map poster sets the town against the rural geometry of the plain around it. The main road and railway heading south from Yerevan pass close by as firm continuous lines. The fields beyond break into small rectangles, and the town's streets form a denser knot at the centre. The result is spare and orderly, and it suits a place defined by its setting.

Road and rail south
The main route from Yerevan toward the south of the country runs near the town, alongside the railway. These are the strongest continuous lines on the map and give the composition its direction.
Toward the Araks
South of town the plain runs down toward the Araks river and the site of ancient Artaxata. Framing the map a little wider brings the river valley into view.

为什么选Artashat
一张有意义的地图
An Artashat print suits anyone with roots in the Ararat valley, whether they grew up there, have family in the town or feel a connection to the ancient capital nearby. It is a modest, precise image of home that does not rely on postcard views.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, for example with the town's name in Armenian script or a meaningful date. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. You can buy $9 HD files with no watermark or a printed matte poster, with a wooden frame if you want one.
