Calarcá Map Poster & Print
Calarcá lies in the department of Quindío, in Colombia's coffee region, just east of the city of Armenia. The Quindío River runs between the two. From above, the town's grid of streets and plazas sits on sloping ground at the foot of the Central Cordillera. The blocks give way to ravines and green hillsides, and then to the steep terrain the road climbs on its way east towards the La Línea pass.
The surrounding hills are covered in coffee farms, plantain groves and patches of forest, which gives the map a fine, broken texture beyond the town. Calarcá is home to the Quindío Botanical Garden, with its well-known butterfly house, and it is the western gateway to the mountain crossing between the Coffee Axis and Bogotá.
A Calarcá map poster captures a town caught between valley and mountain. The street grid is neat and compact, the river marks a clear edge on one side, and the roads twist as they climb on the other. In monochrome the ravines and slopes show up as dark folds around the town, which gives the print a sense of depth unusual for such a small place.
