Croix Map Poster & Print
Croix is part of the Lille metropolitan area, set between Roubaix and Wasquehal in northern France. From above, it is fully joined to its neighbours, with dense terraced streets from the textile era meeting wider avenues and larger plots. It is a textured map, with fine grids of workers' houses sitting beside generous green spaces.
The Canal de Roubaix passes through the area, a straight waterway with locks and towpaths that once served the mills. Tree-lined boulevards run towards Lille and Roubaix, and parks and gardens break up the built fabric. Tram and metro lines connect the town to the rest of the metropolis, and several stations sit within its streets.
Croix is home to the Villa Cavrois, a modernist house designed by Robert Mallet-Stevens in the early 1930s for a textile industrialist and now restored and open to visitors. The Croix map poster shows the canal, the avenues and the dense industrial-era streets together, a precise portrait of a town that is part of a larger city.
