Içara Map Poster & Print
Içara sits on the flat coastal plain of southern Santa Catarina, next to the regional centre of Criciúma. On a map its streets form a fairly regular pattern around the centre, loosening into suburban blocks and then into the long rectangular plots of rice fields and farmland that stretch toward the Atlantic. Small rivers and drainage channels cross the plain in slow, meandering lines.
The municipality has close ties to Criciúma, and the two towns almost meet along the roads between them. Until 2013 Içara also included the beach district of Balneário Rincão, which then became a separate municipality. The area has a strong heritage of Italian and other European immigration, visible in family names and local traditions across the region.
An Içara map poster captures the geometry of a plains town: a compact grid, roads fanning toward neighbouring cities, and the field patterns that fill the rest of the frame. In black and white the rice paddies read as a fine pattern of long strips, giving the poster a texture that is quite particular to this part of Brazil.
