关于地图
Lagunillas Map Poster & Print
Lagunillas lies on the eastern shore of Lake Maracaibo in Zulia State, in the stretch of coast known as the Costa Oriental del Lago. This is one of the historic centres of the Venezuelan oil industry. Wells, pipelines and roads serving the fields cover much of the land and extend into the lake itself.
The original settlement was partly built on stilts over the water and was largely destroyed by fire in 1939, after which the town was rebuilt. Decades of oil extraction caused parts of the shore to subside below lake level, and coastal dikes now hold back the water along this coast.
A Lagunillas map poster shows a town shaped by these forces. The long, straight lakeshore is defined by engineering. Residential streets sit behind it, and the roads and tracks of the oil fields form a web in the surrounding land. In monochrome, the map reads as a portrait of an industrial landscape.

Oil field network
Roads and service tracks serving the fields form a web of thin lines around the town. It is a pattern that directly reflects the region's industry.
Rebuilt town grid
Residential streets behind the shore follow a more regular layout. They form the densest part of the map, set between the lake and the fields.
