Lomme Map Poster & Print
Lomme is a former independent commune on the western side of Lille, joined to the city as an associated commune in 2000 while keeping its own local identity. On a map it reads as part of the continuous urban fabric of the Lille metropolis, but with a clear character: long streets of terraced brick houses, industrial sites and large hospital and commercial complexes at its edges.
The A25 motorway toward Dunkirk runs along the town, a heavy line crossing the map, and rail lines add further straight strokes. Metro line 2 ends at Saint-Philibert in Lomme, connecting the district directly with central Lille. Between these corridors lie grids of residential streets, small parks and the regular blocks typical of northern French industrial towns.
The area's past is tied to the textile and manufacturing economy of French Flanders, and many streets still reflect the pattern of housing built around former works.
