The railway spine
A suburban rail line runs through the town and gives the map its one clear straight edge. Lanes and houses gather close to it before loosening into the countryside.

关于地图
Singur Map Poster & Print
Seen from above, Singur is a loose cluster of lanes that gather around a railway line and then spread into open farmland. There is no rigid grid here. Village paths follow field edges and ponds, and the built-up area thins out gradually. On a black-and-white print, that mix of dense core and scattered hamlets gives the sheet a soft, grainy texture.
Singur sits in Hooghly district, within reach of Kolkata. It became widely known in the late 2000s, when a planned car factory and the farmland taken for it led to protests. The dispute became a turning point in West Bengal politics. The land around the town is still largely agricultural, and the fields remain the most striking thing on the map.
A Singur map poster keeps all of that in view: the rail corridor, the small tanks and ponds, and the thin roads that link one settlement to the next. Because the plain is so flat, water and footpaths do most of the drawing. The result is quiet and detailed rather than dramatic, with fine lines that reward a closer look.

Ponds and tanks
Small water bodies are scattered through the settlement and the fields around it. At print scale they read as neat dark shapes set among the fine linework of village roads.
Open farmland
Beyond the core, roads thin into tracks between cultivated plots. The fields are central to the town's recent story, and they give the poster its wide margins of calm.

为什么选Singur
一张有意义的地图
For people from Hooghly district, or anyone who knows what the Singur fields came to mean, this is a map with weight. It records a place that is small on paper but prominent in the region's memory, and it does so without comment.
You can add a family name, a date or a line of your own under the title, and pick from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper and Sand suit the rural texture especially well.
