Tijucas Map Poster & Print
Tijucas lies on the coast of Santa Catarina, between Florianópolis and Balneário Camboriú, at the mouth of the Tijucas River. From above, the river's winding course dominates the map. It loops through the lowland before opening into Tijucas Bay, whose shoreline is soft and shallow rather than rocky. The town gathers along the river, with streets spreading across flat ground and coastal hills rising behind.
The municipality has a long tradition of ceramics and brick making, based on the clay deposits of the river plain. The BR-101 highway runs along the coast here, linking Tijucas to the larger cities north and south, and newer districts have grown along that corridor. The bay itself is broad and calm, with a very gradual shoreline.
