Huizen Map Poster & Print
Huizen lies on the northern edge of the Gooi region in North Holland, on the shore of the Gooimeer. Before the Zuiderzee was closed off and parts of it reclaimed, this was a fishing village looking out to open sea. Today the water in front of the town is a calm lake, with the new land of Flevoland on the far side.
On the map, the shoreline is lined with the old harbour, marinas and waterfront housing, while the town behind it spreads out in quiet residential neighbourhoods with curving streets and green spaces. The old village centre is still recognisable near the harbour. To the south and east, the woods and heaths of the Gooi begin, framing the town on the land side.
