Kami lies inland in Fukuoka Prefecture, away from the coast and the big urban areas of northern Kyushu. The landscape is hilly and wooded, and the town's streets gather along the valley floors where rivers and roads run side by side. From above the settlement looks like a series of connected clusters, not one continuous city.
