Longsha is a town in the north-east of Chongqing municipality, in the steep, deeply folded country of the upper Yangtze basin. Flat land is scarce here, so the map of a settlement like this is shaped as much by terrain as by planning. Roads follow contours, buildings gather where the ground allows, and the built-up area stretches out instead of spreading evenly.
From above, Longsha shows a compact core of closely packed blocks, with roads leaving it along valley floors and hillsides. Around it the drawing thins into winding lanes and scattered buildings. Even in plain black and white, those curving lines hint at the slopes and terraced fields that surround many towns in this part of Chongqing.
