Jafara plain
Flat, open ground surrounds the town on all sides. It leaves wide empty areas on the print and lets the street pattern stand on its own.

Al ‘Azīzīyah Map Poster & Print
Al ‘Azīzīyah lies on the Jafara plain, the broad lowland that stretches south of Tripoli towards the foot of the Nafusa mountains. The ground here is flat and mostly open, so the town's streets spread with little interference from terrain. The main roads run out towards Tripoli and the interior in long, direct lines, and farmland and scattered buildings fill the spaces between them.
The town is best known internationally for a temperature of 58 degrees Celsius recorded here in 1922, long cited as the highest air temperature on Earth. In 2012 the World Meteorological Organization investigated the reading and rejected it as unreliable, and the record now belongs to Death Valley in California. Even so, the town's name still comes up in many discussions of climate records.
An Al ‘Azīzīyah map poster shows the town as it actually looks from above: a compact built-up area among fields and roads on a wide plain. With no rivers or coastline to organise it, the map relies on the geometry of its routes and plots. That gives it a clean, spare character well suited to black and white.

Radiating roads
Main routes leave the town towards Tripoli and the southern interior. They appear as long straight lines that give the composition its structure.
Farm plots
Cultivated plots and scattered farmsteads fill the land between the roads, forming a loose, rectangular texture around the denser centre of the town.
