Colonial grid
The historic centre follows a clean pattern of square blocks and straight streets, anchored by parks and plazas, which reads with great clarity in black and white.

Ibarra Map Poster & Print
Ibarra lies in a highland valley of northern Ecuador, at roughly 2,200 metres, with the volcano Imbabura rising to the south. Its centre is laid out in a regular colonial grid of square blocks around parks and churches, and the Tahuando River runs along the eastern side of the old town in a narrow valley. Beyond the core, the grid stretches out across the valley floor.
Known as La Ciudad Blanca, the White City, Ibarra is famous for the whitewashed walls of its colonial and republican buildings. The city was founded in 1606 and almost entirely destroyed by an earthquake in 1868, after which it was rebuilt on the same plan. The return of its residents to the site is still commemorated each year.
Just north-east of the city lies Yahuarcocha, a lagoon ringed by a motor racing circuit, clearly visible on the map as an oval of water inside a looping track. An Ibarra map poster frames the city between that lake and the slopes of Imbabura, capturing a place defined by its volcanic setting.

Yahuarcocha lagoon
The lake north-east of the city is encircled by a racing circuit, so the map shows a rare double outline: water inside a ring of track.
Tahuando valley
The Tahuando River runs in a narrow valley along the eastern edge of the centre, drawing a sharp natural boundary for the old grid.

কেন Ibarra
এমন একটি ম্যাপ, যার একটা মানে আছে
Ibarra appeals to those who love Andean cities with clear plans and dramatic surroundings. For families from Imbabura, or visitors who travelled the northern highlands, the map is a precise reminder of a city between a volcano and a lake.
Personalise the title with a name or date, change the subtitle and coordinates line, and choose one of five styles. The Paper style suits the White City especially well. Posters print on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
