Dense town core
The old centre is a close mesh of short, irregular streets, drawn much darker than the countryside around it and easy to pick out from the rest of the map.

Ksour Essaf Map Poster & Print
Ksour Essaf sits in the Tunisian Sahel, in the Mahdia Governorate, a few kilometres back from the Mediterranean coast. On a map the town is a tight knot of streets surrounded by open agricultural land. Roads lead out from it towards the coast and towards the neighbouring towns of the governorate. The dense centre and the loose edges make a clear pattern, even at small scale.
The land around the town is low and gently shaped. Olive cultivation has long defined this part of the Sahel, and from above it shows as a fine texture of plots and field boundaries that fills the space between settlements. Towards the sea the land flattens out into the shoreline, and the coastal village of Salakta, linked to the ancient port of Sullecthum, lies nearby.
A Ksour Essaf map poster shows a place where town and countryside meet in an unusually readable way. The core looks almost woven, with narrow lanes packed together. The outer roads straighten as they reach the fields. In black and white the drawing stays calm and orderly, and it keeps the character of a Sahel town without needing any colour.

Road to the coast
Roads run out from the town towards the Mediterranean shore and the Salakta area. These lines tie the inland town to the sea a short distance away.
Agricultural plain
Around the town the plain is split into plots and field tracks, many of them olive groves. From above they give the paper a quiet, even texture.
