Moudros Bay
A large natural harbour cutting into the south coast. Its sheltered water made it a base for Allied fleets in 1915, and on the map it is the island's widest opening.

Lemnos Map Poster & Print
Lemnos lies in the northern Aegean, between Mount Athos and the Dardanelles. Its outline is its most memorable feature. The Bay of Moudros cuts deep into the south coast and Pournias Bay into the north, leaving only a narrow neck of land between them. The result is an island of two halves, a hillier west and a flatter, more open east.
Myrina, the capital, sits on the west coast between two small bays, below a medieval castle on a rocky headland. The countryside is dry and mostly treeless, with low hills, farmland and villages connected by a loose web of roads. In the north, near Gomati, sand dunes form one of Greece's rare desert-like landscapes.
In myth, Lemnos was where Hephaestus landed when he was thrown from Olympus, and the island was long sacred to him. On the east coast, Poliochni is one of the oldest known settlements in Europe with a town-like layout. During the Gallipoli campaign of 1915, Moudros Bay was a major Allied harbour. A Lemnos map poster shows the island's two lobes held together by a thread of land.

Myrina castle
The capital's medieval castle stands on a rocky promontory between two bays, with the town's streets tucked below it. It is the sharpest point of detail on the west coast.
Gomati dunes
Near the north coast, a patch of sand dunes lies among low hills, unusual for a Greek island. On the poster it sits in a quiet part of the map with few roads.

কেন Lemnos
এমন একটি ম্যাপ, যার একটা মানে আছে
Lemnos is less known than many Greek islands, and the people who love it value its space, its wind and its quiet beaches. Its distinctive two-lobed shape makes an elegant poster, and it also holds meaning for Australians and New Zealanders tracing Gallipoli history.
Change the title, add a subtitle with a village or a year, and set the coordinates line to your own place. Choose from five styles. Paper and Sand suit the island's dry colours. The HD files cost $9, and printed posters on matte paper ship from partners in 30+ countries.
