Old Oswestry hillfort
North of the town, the hillfort's rings of earthen ramparts form a strong, almost geometric shape on the map, easy to spot beside the surrounding fields.

Oswestry Map Poster & Print
Oswestry sits in north-west Shropshire, only a few miles from the Welsh border, and its map shows a classic English market town. Narrow streets gather around a compact centre with a church and a market area, and they fan outward along the old roads. Later housing surrounds the core in looser curves, and the bypass traces a wider arc around the town.
The town's name is traditionally linked to St Oswald, the Northumbrian king killed in battle in this area in the seventh century. Oswestry has always sat between England and Wales, and Offa's Dyke, the early medieval earthwork that roughly marks that boundary, runs through the hills to the west.
Just north of town, Old Oswestry hillfort appears on the map as a set of concentric ramparts, one of the best-preserved Iron Age hillforts in Britain. The poet Wilfred Owen was born in Oswestry in 1893. An Oswestry map poster places the town's layers side by side: the hillfort, the medieval streets and the modern ring of roads.

Market town core
The centre is a close cluster of short, irregular streets around the church and market area, the typical pattern of a town that grew around trade.
Border country
Hills rise toward Wales in the west, and the town's streets gradually give way to farmland and wooded high ground on that side of the map.

কেন Oswestry
এমন একটি ম্যাপ, যার একটা মানে আছে
Oswestry means different things to different people: a home on the border, a family market town, or the birthplace of Wilfred Owen. Its map combines a prehistoric fort with a medieval town plan, a pairing that holds up well on a wall.
