Piratini Map Poster & Print
Piratini is a town in the south of Rio Grande do Sul, in the rolling, grassy hill country known as the Serra do Sudeste. On a map, its compact centre of streets sits on uneven ground, with roads leading away across a wide rural landscape of pastures and ranches that has long been associated with gaúcho culture.
The town holds an important place in Brazilian history: in 1836, during the Ragamuffin War, it became the first capital of the short-lived Riograndense Republic. Several colonial-era buildings in the centre recall that period, and the town is often described as the historic capital of the Farroupilha movement.
A Piratini map poster shows a small historic core set in open country: a tight group of streets and blocks at the centre, the main roads heading toward neighbouring towns, and the broad empty spaces of the surrounding pampa-like terrain. In black and white, it is quiet and dignified, fitting the town's character.

Historic centre
The compact centre, where older buildings from the nineteenth century stand, forms the densest part of the map and the core of the town's street plan.
Open ranch country
Around the town, wide grasslands and pastures leave large empty areas on the poster, crossed only by a few long country roads.
