Settūr is a town in southern Tamil Nadu, set on the plains east of the Western Ghats in the area around Rajapalayam. On a map it appears as a compact settlement where streets gather around a central core and roads lead out toward neighbouring towns and villages. The surrounding land is agricultural, divided into fields that stretch toward the hills.
The defining feature of the wider landscape is the edge of the mountains. To the west the Western Ghats rise steeply from the plain, and on a broader view their slopes form a dark band beside the flat farmland.
