Pre-platted streets
Roads laid out decades ahead of construction cover a very large area in a regular pattern, giving the map its dense, repetitive and highly graphic character.

Mapa
Lehigh Acres Map Poster & Print
Lehigh Acres is an unincorporated community in Lee County, east of Fort Myers in southwest Florida. Its map is one of the most striking in the state. In the 1950s, developers divided a huge area of former ranchland into tens of thousands of residential lots, sold them largely through mail and promotional campaigns, and laid down roads long before most houses followed.
The result, seen from above, is an enormous and surprisingly regular pattern of streets, with long straight roads, repeating blocks and drainage canals running across the flat terrain. Many parcels stood empty for decades, and the community has filled in gradually, so the street network looks far larger than the number of homes might suggest. Lakes and ponds break the pattern here and there.
A Lehigh Acres map poster turns this planned landscape into a remarkable graphic. At larger print sizes, the repeating blocks become an almost textile-like surface, with canals and main roads providing the structure. It is a fitting piece for residents who have watched their neighbourhood grow, or for anyone who appreciates the strange beauty of a place that was drawn on paper first.

Drainage canals
Straight canals run through the community to manage water on the flat land, adding long, clean lines that cut across the residential blocks.
Lakes and ponds
Scattered bodies of water interrupt the street pattern, creating soft open shapes that give the eye a place to rest within the grid.
