Māngrol lies on the southwestern coast of the Saurashtra peninsula in Gujarat, facing the Arabian Sea. It was once the seat of a small princely state and has long been a port for coastal trade and fishing. On a map, the town has a strong sense of direction: dense old streets near the shore, a harbour on the waterfront, and newer growth spreading inland.
The historic core is tightly packed, with narrow lanes, mosques and older buildings reflecting centuries of maritime connections.
