Itimbiri River
The broad river runs past the town and was its reason for existing. It carried boats downstream toward the Congo River and the wider network.

关于地图
Aketi Map Poster & Print
Aketi lies on the Itimbiri River in Bas-Uele province, in the north of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The river is the dominant feature on the map, a wide channel curving through lowland forest, and the town's streets spread out from its bank in a loose grid cleared from the surrounding vegetation.
In the colonial period, Aketi became a transport hub where river traffic met a narrow-gauge railway running inland toward the northeast, so goods could move between the Congo river network and the Uele region. Traces of the rail line and the port still shape the layout of the town.
An Aketi map poster shows a settlement defined by movement, where river and rail met, surrounded by land where roads are few. In black and white, the curve of the Itimbiri and the thin lines of the town's streets contrast sharply with the wide, empty forest around them.

Rail and port
Aketi was built as a point where river transport met a railway heading inland. On the map, straight rail alignments contrast with the curving river.
Forest setting
Dense equatorial forest surrounds the town. On the map, it leaves wide blank areas that make Aketi look small and clearly defined.
