Berck-Plage Map Poster & Print
Berck-Plage is the beach district of Berck on the Côte d'Opale in northern France. On a map, its most obvious feature is the shoreline, a long, nearly straight edge of sand facing the English Channel. Behind it, streets run in a fairly regular pattern, with the seafront promenade as the main line.
The town grew in the nineteenth century as a centre for sea-air medicine. Large hospitals and treatment centres were built facing the beach, and several still occupy big plots along the coast. To the south, the Baie d'Authie opens into sandbanks and channels, and a seal colony can often be seen there at low tide.
