Ridge-top roads
Roads follow the tops of ridges and loop around the steep slopes. This gives the map its winding, contour-like pattern.

关于地图
Cyato Map Poster & Print
Cyato is in Rwanda's Western Province, in the high, steep country between Lake Kivu and the Nyungwe forest. On a map, the landscape is the main story. Ridges and valleys lie close together, and every road has to curve around them. Houses and small fields cover the slopes in a dense, fine-grained pattern.
Rwanda is often called the land of a thousand hills, and this area shows why. There is very little flat ground. Tracks wind along ridge tops, and streams run in the valleys. Farming covers much of the land, with terraces and field edges following the contours. The settlement spreads along ridges instead of forming a single compact centre.
A Cyato map poster turns this hilly terrain into a detailed pattern of winding lines. There are no straight grids here, only roads and paths that trace the shape of the land. In black and white, it becomes a calm, intricate picture of a rural corner of western Rwanda.

Valley streams
Small streams run through the valley floors between hills. They form thin, branching lines in the low ground.
Terraced fields
Farmland covers the slopes in narrow plots and terraces. From above, this adds a fine texture across the whole area.
