Rectangular blocks
Much of the suburb follows a planned pattern of straight streets and regular blocks. It gives the map a calm, orderly rhythm compared with the older districts of Athens.

关于地图
Gérakas Map Poster & Print
Gérakas is a suburb on the eastern side of the Athens basin, part of the municipality of Pallini in East Attica. It lies where the city meets the Mesogeia plain, with the slopes of Mount Hymettus rising to the southwest. From above it is a fairly regular field of rectangular blocks, straighter and more open than the older neighbourhoods closer to central Athens.
The area was largely rural until the late twentieth century, when better roads and rising demand for housing brought rapid growth. The Attiki Odos motorway and the rail and metro links toward the airport now run close by and draw bold lines across the edge of the map. Pockets of undeveloped land still break up the grid.
A Gérakas map poster suits people who have made their home in this newer part of Athens, often families who moved out from the centre. It shows a suburb that is still taking shape, where planned streets meet hillside, fields and motorway in one clear composition. It gives the suburb the same attention the historic city usually gets.

Motorway corridor
The Attiki Odos and the transit line toward the airport pass nearby, cutting a broad, continuous line across the edge of the map.
Hymettus foothills
To the southwest the ground rises toward Mount Hymettus. There the street grid thins out and gives way to open slopes.

为什么选 Gérakas
一张有意义的地图
Many people living in Gérakas chose it for space and quiet within reach of Athens. A map of the neighbourhood records that choice and makes a fitting piece for a new apartment or a family house.
Write your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a street name or a move-in date. Choose one of five styles and download six HD sizes for $9, or order a matte print from a local print partner.
