Market centre
The central area has a denser mix of buildings and lanes around the market. It is the busiest part of the map and the natural focus of the composition.

关于地图
Illéla Map Poster & Print
Illéla is in the Tahoua Region of Niger, in the Sahel belt, not far from the border with Nigeria. The land around it is flat or gently rolling, with dry-season plains, scattered trees and fields that turn green in the rainy months. The town stands out as a compact built area, where streets and compounds cluster together and roads lead out towards other settlements.
The street pattern follows the typical form of Sahel towns. In the central area there is a market and denser building. The lanes are sandy and fairly irregular, and many homes are arranged around walled courtyards. Near the edges the plots grow larger and more spread out, until the built area gives way to open fields and tracks that cross the plain.
An Illéla map poster is simple by nature: a close grain of streets in the middle, a road network leaving in several directions, and plenty of open space around it all. That emptiness is not a gap in the design. It reflects the scale of the Sahel landscape, and it gives the town's outline a clear and deliberate presence on the page.

Courtyard compounds
Many homes are built around enclosed courtyards, which gives the residential areas a small, cell-like texture. The lanes wind between them rather than running in a strict grid.
Roads across the plain
Roads and tracks leave the town across open country to neighbouring places. On the map they are long, lonely lines that show how far apart settlements are in the Sahel.

为什么选 Illéla
一张有意义的地图
For people from Illéla living elsewhere in Niger or abroad, a map of their town brings the market, the family compound and the road home into one image. The open space around the town gives the poster a quiet, spacious feel.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or a date. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand fits the Sahel especially well.
