Lake Kivu shore
The eastern edge of Lake Kivu runs along the map in a series of bays and headlands, giving the poster a strong, irregular border between land and water.

关于地图
Kirimbi Map Poster & Print
Kirimbi lies in Rwanda's Western Province, in the hilly country along the eastern shore of Lake Kivu. On a map the lake is the dominant presence: a wide expanse of water whose edge is cut into bays, points and small inlets. The land behind it rises quickly, and the settlement spreads over slopes rather than across a flat plain.
Roads here follow ridgelines and valleys, curving around the hills instead of crossing them directly. Paths and smaller tracks link scattered clusters of houses and fields, so the pattern is looser and more organic than a grid. This is typical of western Rwanda, where the hills have long been farmed and footpaths often carry as much traffic as the roads.
A Kirimbi map poster pairs two very different shapes: the irregular, lacy shoreline of the lake and the fine network of roads on the hills above. Printed in black and white, the water becomes a calm field and the land a web of lines. The composition feels spacious and quiet, and it reads well across a wall.

Ridge-following roads
Main routes trace the contours of the hills, looping and bending so that the road pattern itself describes the shape of the terrain.
Dispersed settlement
Instead of one dense centre, homes and fields spread across the slopes, connected by a fine mesh of paths and minor roads.
