Damietta branch of the Nile
One of the Nile's two main delta branches runs along the town's edge. It draws a broad, confident curve across the whole composition.

关于地图
Samannūd Map Poster & Print
Samannūd sits in Gharbia Governorate in the middle of the Nile Delta, on the western bank of the Damietta branch of the Nile. The river is the town's defining edge, a wide, smooth curve with the town lined up along it. Across the rest of the map, the delta's flat land is divided by canals and irrigation channels into a fine pattern of fields.
The town stands on the site of ancient Sebennytos, an important city in Pharaonic Egypt. It was the home of the Thirtieth Dynasty, the last native dynasty to rule Egypt, and of the priest Manetho, whose history of Egypt gave us the system of dynasties still used today. A Samannūd map poster brings that ancient layer into the present through the street network built over it.
The modern town is dense. The streets are narrow and tightly packed in the older areas, especially near the river, and slightly more regular towards the outskirts. Bridges and roads connect it to nearby delta towns, including the larger city of El Mahalla El Kubra. In black and white, the contrast between the crowded town, the smooth river and the scored farmland is striking.

Dense old quarters
Near the river, narrow streets and small blocks form a tightly woven core. It reads as a dark, finely textured patch at the centre of the map.
Delta canals
Around the town, irrigation channels and field boundaries divide flat farmland into long strips. The pattern is very characteristic of the Nile Delta.

Samannūd is a small modern town sitting on one of ancient Egypt's historic cities. A map of it suits anyone with roots in the delta, and anyone fascinated by the place where Egyptian history was first divided into dynasties.
You can change the title and subtitle, perhaps to a family name, a date or the ancient name Sebennytos, and keep the coordinates line. Choose from five styles, including the warm Sand and the classic Paper.
