Shirbīn sits in Dakahlia Governorate in the northeastern Nile Delta, close to the Damietta branch of the river as it runs toward the Mediterranean. From above, the town appears as a compact knot of streets surrounded by farmland, where irrigation canals and field boundaries draw fine parallel lines in every direction. The river gives the composition a strong, gently curving edge.
The street pattern inside the town is tight and irregular, typical of delta settlements that grew outward from an older core rather than along a planned grid. Wider roads cut through toward neighbouring villages and the regional centre of Mansoura, and these longer lines give the dense centre a sense of direction on paper.
