The Han River
The Han sweeps past the city's western edge in a wide channel with islands and shifting sandbars. It adds a long, flowing shape that balances the regular street grid.

关于地图
Zhongxiang Map Poster & Print
Zhongxiang lies in central Hubei, on the east bank of the Han River as it winds south toward Wuhan. From above the river is the main feature: a wide, braided channel with sandbars, and the city's rectangular blocks lined up beside it. Farmland and scattered villages surround the urban area, and low hills rise to the east.
The city itself has the layout of many mid-sized Chinese cities. Broad arterial roads divide it into large superblocks, and residential compounds, schools and parks sit inside them. Newer districts stretch away from the older centre in neat, planned rectangles, and bridges across the Han link the city with the plains on the far bank.
Zhongxiang is best known for the Xianling Mausoleum, the Ming dynasty tomb of the Jiajing Emperor's parents. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing for the Imperial Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The emperor himself grew up here before taking the throne. A Zhongxiang map poster shows the calm geometry of the city next to the loose curves of the river.

Planned superblocks
Wide avenues cut the urban area into large rectangular blocks. Seen as a poster, this gives the city a clear, orderly texture that is easy to read from across a room.
Hills to the east
Beyond the built-up area the land rises into low, wooded hills where the Ming mausoleum stands. The road network there thins into winding lines that follow the terrain.

为什么选 Zhongxiang
一张有意义的地图
This is a map for people who grew up along the Han, or who have family roots in this part of Hubei. It is also a quiet way to mark a connection to a city that most maps of China leave unlabelled.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a hometown name in Chinese characters and a meaningful year. Then pick a style: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper and Sand bring out the warmth of the river's curves.
