Town ponds
Many ponds and tanks lie among the streets and fields. They appear as small, smooth shapes that break up the dense pattern of lanes.

Madhubani Map Poster & Print
Madhubani is a town in northern Bihar, in the Mithila region close to the border with Nepal. The land here is part of the wide, flat Gangetic plain, crossed by rivers flowing down from the Himalaya. From above, the town is a dense network of lanes and small blocks. Many ponds are scattered through the neighbourhoods, and fields press close on every side.
Madhubani gives its name to one of India's best-known folk art traditions. Madhubani, or Mithila, painting is known for fine lines, bold patterns and scenes from myth and daily life. It was traditionally painted on the walls of homes and is now known around the world. The town's railway station was decorated with these paintings, turning it into a gallery for travellers.
A Madhubani map poster has something in common with that art: detailed linework and patterns built from small elements. The ponds, streets and railway create a composition that works well in the warm tones of Paper or Sand. In Noir, the thin lines stand out against a deep black ground.

Railway line
The railway passes through the town, and its straight track draws a clear line through the otherwise intricate network of lanes.
Mithila plain
Flat fields stretch toward the Nepal border. Divided into small plots, they surround the town in a fine, even texture on every side.
