Oil-era layout
Parts of the town were shaped by the oil industry, and their straighter, more regular street blocks stand apart from the looser residential lanes that grew up around the market centre.

Pangkalan Brandan Map Poster & Print
Pangkalan Brandan sits in Langkat Regency in the northern part of North Sumatra, on the flat lowland that runs down to the Strait of Malacca. From above, the town shows as a loose cluster of streets along a main road, with rivers and drainage channels winding through surrounding plantations and fields.
The place has an unusual significance in industrial history. The Telaga Said field nearby was one of the earliest commercial oil discoveries in the Dutch East Indies, and the town grew up around the wells, pipelines and refinery that followed. On a map, this shows as blocks of regular, planned layout set among the more organic lanes of an ordinary Sumatran market town.
A Pangkalan Brandan map poster keeps all of this in plain linework: the main road carrying traffic between Medan and Aceh, the curves of the waterways, the tight core of shops and houses, and the wider pattern of estates beyond. Without colour or labels crowding the sheet, the balance between the town and its working landscape is easy to read.

Lowland waterways
Rivers and channels cross the flat coastal plain in slow meanders, drawing thin curving lines through the surrounding fields and giving the composition a soft, organic edge.
Trans-Sumatran corridor
The main road running through town links it to Medan in one direction and Aceh in the other, a strong line that anchors the whole street network.

For people who grew up here or worked in the oil fields, this map records a town that most atlases barely mention. It suits a family home or an office connected to the region's energy history, and it works as a quiet, personal record of where someone comes from.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a date or a family name, and choose from five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9 and come in six print sizes, or you can order a printed poster.
