Pano Aqil lies in Sukkur District in northern Sindh, on the flat plain of the Indus valley. From above, the town has two distinct parts: an older civilian area with dense, irregular lanes, and a cantonment laid out more regularly with wider roads and open spaces.
The countryside around the town is intensively irrigated, with canals drawing water from the Indus and dividing the land into long rectangular fields. The main road and railway through northern Sindh pass nearby, linking Pano Aqil to Sukkur and the towns beyond.
