Tasek Glugor lies in the northern part of Seberang Perai, the mainland half of the state of Penang, well away from the dense streets of George Town across the channel. It is a modest town with a compact centre, and its map is defined as much by the countryside around it as by the streets within it.
From above, the core appears as a short cluster of shophouse streets and local roads. Residential lanes and village settlements are strung along the routes that lead out of town. Beyond them the land opens into agricultural plots, where field boundaries and drainage lines form long, straight strokes that echo the flat terrain of the coastal plain.
