Uzunköprü Map Poster & Print
Uzunköprü lies in Edirne Province in Turkish Thrace, not far from the Greek border, on the flat plain of the Ergene River. Its name means long bridge, and the town grew up beside the Ottoman stone bridge built across the Ergene and its marshy floodplain in the fifteenth century under Sultan Murad II. It is often described as the longest historic stone bridge in the world.
On the map the bridge is unmistakable: a long, straight line running across the low ground of the floodplain. The town spreads beside it, with a dense centre of short, irregular streets around the market area and newer residential blocks laid out more regularly further out. The railway toward Greece passes nearby, adding another firm straight line to the plan.
An Uzunköprü map poster pairs this historic structure with the quiet agricultural landscape of Thrace, where the Ergene winds through rice and sunflower fields. Rendered in black and white, the meandering river, the rigid line of the bridge and the compact town between them create a composition that is both simple and full of character.

Ergene River
The river loops slowly across the flat Thracian plain, its curves offering a gentle counterpoint to the straight lines of the bridge and railway.
Market town centre
Short, closely packed streets gather in the older core, loosening into regular residential blocks and then into the open fields of the valley.

Uzunköprü is a place people carry with them, whether they grew up in its streets, crossed the bridge on family visits or passed through on the railway toward Europe. A map of the town gives that memory a clear and lasting form.
