Ādēt is a town in the Amhara Region of northern Ethiopia, in the West Gojjam highlands south of Bahir Dar and Lake Tana. It lies in farming country, with broad fields covering the gently rolling land. From above the town is small and compact, its streets arranged along the main roads, with houses and compounds thinning out quickly into the surrounding farmland.
The town is known in Ethiopia for its agricultural research centre, which works on crops and farming methods for the highlands. Around the town, the landscape is shaped by fields, scattered homesteads and eucalyptus trees, and the roads link it with larger centres in the region.
