El mapa
Anzhero-Sudzhensk lies in the north of Kemerovo oblast, in the Kuzbass coal basin of western Siberia. The city was formed in 1928 by merging two mining settlements, Anzherka and Sudzhenka, and from above that origin remains visible: the urban area is split into distinct parts rather than one continuous centre.
The Trans-Siberian railway runs through the city, forming a strong line that organises much of the layout. Residential districts, including Soviet-era blocks and older low-rise houses, spread out on either side, separated by hills, forested strips and former industrial areas associated with the mines.
Coal mining shaped the city for more than a century, and its early growth followed the construction of the railway in the 1890s. An Anzhero-Sudzhensk map poster reflects this unusual structure, with its twin cores and railway spine, in a clear and graphic way.
Two separate urban areas, the former Anzherka and Sudzhenka, form distinct clusters on the map, connected by roads and railway.
The railway runs straight through the city, a long unbroken line that anchors the composition.
Mine sites and industrial zones leave large irregular shapes among residential districts, reflecting the city's coal heritage.

Por qué Anzhero-Sudzhensk
Many families in Kuzbass have deep roots in mining towns like Anzhero-Sudzhensk. A map of the city honours that history and the neighbourhoods that grew around the shafts and the railway.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir suits the industrial character of the city, while Paper evokes older printed maps of the region.
