El mapa
Ashmont is a neighbourhood in the southern part of Dorchester, in Boston, and it is best known for its station. Ashmont is the terminus of one branch of the Red Line and the starting point of the Mattapan trolley. On the map, the rail line cuts a clear diagonal through a dense residential grid, and streets converge on the station and on Dorchester Avenue.
Around the station, the street pattern is typical of Boston's streetcar suburbs. Short blocks, curving lanes and small squares follow the gentle slopes of Ashmont Hill. Lots are narrow and deep, filled with triple-deckers and larger Victorian houses. Peabody Square, near the station, forms a small civic knot where several streets meet at angles.
All Saints Church, designed by Ralph Adams Cram and completed in the 1890s, stands near the square and is an important early work of American Gothic Revival. An Ashmont map poster captures a neighbourhood built around the arrival of rapid transit, where rail lines, hillside streets and closely spaced houses fit together tightly.
The Red Line and the Mattapan trolley meet here. On the poster, the rail corridor is a strong diagonal that organises the streets around it.
On the hill, streets bend and loop to follow the terrain rather than a strict grid. The result is a softer, more intricate pattern of Victorian house lots.

Por qué Ashmont
Boston neighbourhoods inspire strong loyalty, and Ashmont is no exception. People hang this map for the triple-decker where they first rented, the block where they raised children, or the last stop on the Red Line that always meant home.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a street name or a move-in date, and choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The files include US sizes 18×24″ and 24×36″ alongside metric ones, each as a 300 DPI PNG and PDF.
