El mapa
Bezhetsk stands on the Mologa River in the northeast of Tver Oblast. From above, the river is what you notice first: it bends through the town in wide loops, and the older streets follow its banks. Away from the water, the blocks become more regular, and wooden houses and gardens thin out gradually into fields and forest.
The town is one of the older settlements of the region, with its origins in the medieval Novgorod lands. It is also linked to the poet Anna Akhmatova and her family. Her son, the historian Lev Gumilyov, spent his childhood in Bezhetsk, and the Gumilyov family estate was nearby.
A Bezhetsk map poster shows a classic small Russian river town: a central core by the water, a railway on the edge, and long straight streets running into the countryside. The loops of the Mologa give the design a natural focal point that sits well in a frame.
The river curves through the town in broad bends, dividing neighbourhoods and giving the map its strongest, most recognisable line.
The historic core sits close to the water, where streets are shorter and meet at irregular angles, unlike the straighter residential blocks further out.
Toward the edges, the dense streets break into scattered houses, gardens and open land, so the town's boundary on the poster looks soft.

Por qué Bezhetsk
For readers of Akhmatova, for families with roots in Tver Oblast, or for anyone who has spent summers on the Mologa, this is a map with memory in it. It's quiet and readable, and very much a river town.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, then choose from five styles. Paper and Sand bring out the literary, archival mood, and Noir makes the river loops stand out sharply against a dark field.
